A trawler sinks at Karnaphuli
A fishing trawler sank in the Karnaphuli River at Chattogram early in the day.
All crew members were rescued by residents shortly after the incident.

Citing locals, Bangladesh Coast Guard East Area Staff Officer (Operation) Habibur Rahman said the trawler, FV Crystal-8, sank in the river above the Karnaphuli Bridge in early morning, when water entered through a leak, but there was no collision. and the weather was calm.
Six or seven of the trawler’s crew managed to swim to shore while others were rescued by local boatmen, the coast guard official said.
On information, a coastguard team rushed to the scene around 6:00 am but the trawler was completely under water before the team arrived on site, said Habibur Rahman.
FV Crystal-8 is owned by Hamida Doza Limited, a subsidiary of Crystal Group, reports our staff correspondent at Chattogram.
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Secretary Md Omar Faruk said that the place is under the territory of Chittagong Port, they have demarcated the area with floating buoys.
There was no interruption in the movement of ships to and from the port after the sinking, as no ocean-going vessels ply this part of the river, he added.
