Approval of additional 220 million kuna for the Croatian livestock industry
August 7, 2021 – A significant amount of money for the Croatian livestock industry is about to flow thanks to a recent decision taken by the European Commission (EC) through various changes to the development program rural.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Ministry of Agriculture has indicated that the European Commission (EC) has approved additional aid of 220 million kuna for pastoralists and the Croatian livestock industry, in addition to the mechanisms of existing help. The industry, like the majority of other sectors, has been affected by the ongoing pandemic, and this EC-approved cash sum did not arrive too late.
“The European Commission has approved the latest changes to the rural development program, which, after long and fruitful negotiations with the EC, approved this additional aid to the livestock sector of an additional 130 million kuna per through the animal welfare measure and an additional 90 million kuna for further support for the use of livestock manure on arable land, ” the aforementioned ministry said in a statement on the matter.
The ministry also recalled that in addition to implementing regular support measures, since the start of the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic, the ministry has adopted a number of support programs that directly involve and include the industry. Croatian livestock, worth nearly 450 million kuna, as well as various support programs for the poultry and dairy sectors.
In addition to the above, due to the increase in prices of cereals and other components of typical animal feed, at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Member States of European Union Agriculture Minister Marija Vuckovic called on the European Commission Commission to examine all possibilities of granting financial support to stabilize the Croatian livestock sector and properly ensure a level playing field Croatian manufacturers in the demanding global market.
