France has put enormous pressure on Macron to take on Boris against the migrants – We must fight against the UK! | Politics | New
Tensions between France and the UK over the management of migrants in Calais have skyrocketed in recent weeks. The mayor of Calais, Natacha Bouchart, threatened Boris Johnson over the dispute, accusing the British Prime Minister of lacking “courage” to reform the British immigration system.
She said: “We have to get into a standoff with Boris Johnson.
“This is the only way the British can understand.
“And if migrants continue to travel to England, it is because the British government does not have the courage to review their reception system.
“Migrants still have an income when they arrive.
“They still have the black market, they still have advantages.
“I’m sorry, but if we don’t go to this showdown, we won’t get anything.
“People who go through this on a daily basis should be tough and not be afraid.
“Today we are not where we should be.
“We must review the bilateral agreements between France and England and the Treaty of Touquet.”
More than 400 people were rescued in a French-led rescue operation in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais on Tuesday evening and Wednesday, French authorities said.
