Severnaya Verf launches the first serial trawler of the 170701 project, Kapitan Geller, built for the NOREBO group
The vessel is to be delivered to the client, Rybprominvest of the NOREBO group, in early 2022
St. Petersburg-based shipyard Severnaya Verf has launched the first serial processing trawler of Project 170701, IAA reporter PortNews said.
The ship named Kapitan Geller is intended to operate in the North Atlantic. The concept and detailed design for one of the world’s most advanced fishing vessels was developed by Nautic Rus, a national design company.
With its hull shape, the vessel will exhibit improved seaworthiness and fuel efficiency.
The ship’s factory will ensure the complete processing of the catches: production of frozen fillets and other types of fishery products, canned cod liver, fish meal and other by-products.
The automated palletizing system will reduce the workload and the unloading time. Its effectiveness has already been tested by NOREBO on other vessels.
After launching, the trawler will undergo the completion of hull shaping work, installation of equipment and pipelines.
The ship was named after the master of the deep water Stanislav Geller (1936 – 2006).
The series of sea transformation trawlers built by the shipyard for NOREBO will number 10 units. Severnaya Verf and NOREBO also signed a contract for the construction of four longliners of the 200101 project for the Far East basin.
Key characteristics of the vessel 170701: length – 81.6 m, width – 16 m, speed – 15.5 knots, displacement – 5500 t, main engine power – 6.2 MW, production capacity – 150 tons of fish per day , freezing capacity – 100 tons of fish per day.
