Seychelles: Head of EU Delegation pays courtesy visit to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism

Ambassador Vincent Degert, Head of the Delegation of the European Union accredited to Seychelles, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, on Thursday, May 5, 2022.
Minister Radegonde welcomed Ambassador Degert, who was grateful and happy to be back in Seychelles.
During the discussions, collaboration in key areas of cooperation, including institutional capacity building, maritime security, fisheries and trade, was highlighted, and both sides expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the agreement. EU development aid to Seychelles.
Minister Radegonde commended the work of EUNAVFOR for the success of the operations carried out in the Indian Ocean to combat illicit maritime crimes, in particular drug trafficking and referred to the recent seizure of at least 2 tonnes illicit drugs, some of which were destined for the Seychelles.
During his visit to Seychelles, Ambassador Degert met with various stakeholders to discuss other relevant issues such as maritime security and capacity building support provided to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Cabinet of the Attorney General and the Anti-Corruption Commission of Seychelles (ACCS).
Ambassador Degert’s visit to Seychelles also coincided with Europe Day celebrations and was an opportunity to highlight the long-standing partnership between the EU and Seychelles.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, Director General for Multilateral Affairs, Ms. Amenda Padayachy, Director General for Regional Affairs, Mr. Steve Lalande, Director for Multilateral Affairs, Mr. Jean-Paul d’Offay and second secretary, Mr. Marco Larsen.
