Sorry County police charge drunken man with burglary and four counts of theft
Horry County Police arrested a man after breaking into a securities lending business and wrecking several cars.
Sean Patrick Gartner, 32, of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, has been charged with burglary, malicious bodily injury and four counts of theft.
Agents responded to an alarm at 1st Equity Deed Loans, 1729 Highway 17 in Little River, around 12:15 a.m. Friday, where Gartner allegedly broke into the business smashing glass, trashing furniture and equipment and, after finding keys to parked vehicles in the company, broke into several of the vehicles and ransacked them, Denis said.
Gartner had cuts on his bare feet and hands, but could not tell officers how he was injured, according to a police report. He denied medical treatment.
Police said Gartner was severely drunk and couldn’t explain why his flip flops were among the damaged vehicles, according to the report. Gartner told police he took Ambien pills, according to the report.
While being transported to prison, Gartner took off his seat belt and started screaming, police said. Officers stopped, put Gartner’s belt back on and calmed him down, the report said.
Gartner is being held at the J. Reuben Detention Center pending a bail hearing.
