Young Blues Tommy Smith, Colin Oppong and Ola Bello have moved to Southern League Premier Division Central, Lowestoft Town, for their first month on loan.
Speaking to TWTD, Town U23 coach Kieron Dyer said he expects more of the club’s young players, including left-back Smith (pictured above), on loan to acquire experience in men’s football as part of his team’s plan this season. .
Northern Ireland-born striker Oppong, 19, already spent time with the Trawler Boys last season and also made a stint at Bury Town, as did Smith, 19, who made a start and a under-appearance for the first team, both in the cup. competitions.
18-year-old Nigerian forward Bello was among those who impressed at the FA Under-18 Youth Cup last season.
“I want to thank Ipswich for allowing us to loan the boys out,” Lowestoft manager Jamie Godbold said on his club’s official website.
This means that we now have a very good depth and a very good experience in the first team, and that is going to create some competition for us.
“Colin, we’ve seen him before, and his physical presence will give us something that we appreciated at the top of the pitch.
“Ola is a fast attacking player who can score a goal and gives us some good options in jersey number nine. Tommy is a left-handed defenseman and will give us more senior defensemen to choose from.
“Everyone can see that our start was not what we would have liked, so now with the added competition our battle must begin between us on the training ground.
“If we can push each other for more in the right way, I have no doubt we can start to put together some good streaks.”
The trio could make their first appearances in the home game against Alvechurch on Saturday.
Meanwhile, U23 winger Ross Crane has joined the National League’s South Concord Rangers on loan.
